The scientific name of the maroon clownfish is premnas biaculeatus. This species of clownfish swims the waters of the Great Barrier Reef as well as the Indo-Pacific Ocean. It is also known as the maroon anemonefish or the spine-cheeked clownfish. As with other clownfish species, the notable feature of this fish breed is its stripes, which are normally white but may also be yellow in some fish.

Female clownfish are physically larger than their male counterparts. Moreover, the color of female clownfish is darker red in color compared to their brighter male partners. To keep a maroon clownfish happy and healthy in an aquarium, one must note a ratio of 30 gallons of water per clownfish. Since it lives communally with the sea anemone in its natural habitat, it is also recommended, but not required, to provide the same in an aquarium setting. For feeding, maroon clownfish enjoy herbivore diets as well as frozen shrimps.

The Loach traces its roots from the family of fish species called cobitidae. This fish breed originated from the waters of Bangladesh. Its appearance is very elegant and regal with a golden coloration and black stripe throughout the body from head to tail. As they mature, the number of stripes ad the stripe widths increase.

The Loach is a community fish, generally good-natured. However, they are rough with their own species but not to the point of causing harm. It is recommended to join them with less aggressive species in the same tank. Loach fish hate bright light and love dark places such as caves. They also love to hide behind plants during the day. You may expect the Loach fish to be active towards the evening. Loach fish are natural scavengers and love to eat snails. This is the reason why they variety are used for the control and management of snail population.

Dedicated fish owners and breeders are enchanted with the Killifish. It belongs to the family of fish species called aplocheilidae, which are found in tropical and subtropical areas around the globe except Australia. Killifish are very beautiful in appearance but are quite a handful in terms of care and maintenance. Killifish come from diverse habitats and each breed has different needs that vary from simple to difficult to maintain. Only top quality food and water must be utilized to keep the Killifish healthy and happy. The lifespan of the Killifish is extraordinarily short. They live in puddles of mud. Hatching and maturation are completed in just three weeks.

Killifish come in many species differing greatly in pattern and color. The male Killifish are brighter in color and have larger dorsal fins than their female partners. Killifish have heads that are flat on top. These fish have curved, long and pointed teeth.

The Black Moor Goldfish is exactly like the Telescope Goldfish, except that it is black in color. It belongs to the Cyprinidae family of fish species. Compared to the common goldfish, the Black Moor Goldfish has a rounder body and is sometimes egg-shaped. Its protruding bulbous eyes are its most prominent feature. Its color is velvet black due to metallic scales that are richly colored. Fins are long and flowing.

Black Moor Goldfish make ideal pets because they can survive in cold temperatures. Every goldfish collector is sure to have this species in his or her tank, as the Black Moor is one of the most favored species of goldfish around the world.

Young Black Moor Goldfish are dark bronze in color with eyes that are not protruding. As these fish mature, their colors become black and the eyes become telescopic. Interestingly, when placed on warmer water, some black moor goldfish’s colors can turn to metallic orange, just like the common goldfish.

The Angelfish belongs to the family of cichlidae fish species. It is considered as one of the world’s most beautiful and enchanting fish species. The Angelfish is not just an attractive fish but also a very hardy one. The unique disk body shape of Angelfish as well as its beautiful patterns and colors make this breed a very impressive member of the aquarium display showcase.

Angelfish come from Central and South America and thrive in a community of similar fish. However, it is not sociable to smaller fish species. When young, they stick together with their own kind. When they are older, they are inclined towards pairing and become territorial in nature. Angelfish are omnivores. Their diet consists of fresh, live and flake food and pellets. For treats, you may give bloodworms and brine shrimp that may be served either live or frozen. Interestingly, Angelfish also feed on spinach and lettuce.

The back and the sides of dolly varden trout are olive green or muddy grey with scattered pale yellow or pink-yellow spots and white shade on the belly. Small red spots, not very distinctive, are found on the lower sides. Fins are usually plain except for few light spots on the base of caudal fin rays. Dolly varden trouts can be found abundantly in coastal waters of the North Pacific from Puget Sound to the Alaska Peninsula and into the eastern Aleutians, across the Bering Sea and the Arctic Sea.

Dragonet is a small fish of diverse families found in the tropical waters of the western Indo-pacific. Dragonets are well known for highly colorful appearance and cryptic patterns. Dragonets are generally bottom-dwelling fishes and prefer sandy or rocky surfaces or sometimes near reefs. Bright colors and showy fins make them the most popular aquarium fishes, mandarin dragonets being the most commercial variety for aquariums. Generally, they work best in reef aquariums of size 55 gallons and more.

Dragonet has an elongate and a scaleless body with strong spine guards, which may be poisonous in some of the species. Their fins are large, elongate and showy. They have flattened and triangular heads with large mouth and eyes. Size of dragonets varies depending upon the species; the largest (Longtail Dragonet) reaches a length of 30 cm (1 feet) and the other hand, smallest species (Saint Helena Dragonet) is just 2 cm long. Dragonets feed on crustaceans, worms and other small invertebrates picked from the substrates. In captivity, dragonets eat only live food, often starving to death if sufficient live food items are available.
