Atlantic salmon, known as king of fish, is found in northern Atlantic Ocean and in rivers that flow into the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean. The title King of Fish is appropriate for several reasons. Foremost being their capacity to make a tremendous journey during their lifetime. They migrate from fresh water streams to feeding ground in North Atlantic Ocean and back again to spawn at the same place whether they were hatched. Atlantic salmon is an anadromous (habit of migrating from sea to fresh water for spawning) migratory fish unlike common eel, which are catadromous (migrating from fresh water to sea for spawning)
Atlantic salmons are most beautiful fishes; streamlined, silver and graceful. They are considered as symbol of clean and unspoiled waters that run wild into sea. They are very powerful fish and greatest fighters. They feed on larger foods such as Arctic Squids, sand eels, amphipods, arctic shrimp and occasionally herring. During their feeding season they grow rapidly. They do not require salt water. There are numbers of fully freshwater species existing throughout the northern hemisphere.
