Dogfish is a common name for number of small sharks that can be found in in the northeast Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean Ocean. Dogfishes are slender and small sharks with a flattened head and a snout tapering to a blunt tip. Their average size is 2.5-3 feet long and larger species of 4-feet and above are also known. They feed on small fish, squids and crustaceans. Dogfishes hunt both alone as well as in groups with other dogfishes.

Discus is a genus of three species of freshwater Cichlid Fish native to Amazon River Basin. With their widespread popularity as excellent aquarium fish, aquaculture of discus has become a major industry in Asia. The name discus has been derived from their typical body shape resembling a discus or a disc. All the three species of discus have different geographic distribution in Brazil, Columbia and Peru.

Like all the Cichlid fish, discus have a laterally compressed body shape. However, lack of extended finnage gives them a more rounded shape. Sides of discus fish are generally patterned in shades of green, red, brown and blue. Their length and height of a fully grown discus fish are almost same, about 20-25 cm. Discus is usually a shy and peaceful inhabitant in the aquariums. They tend to be sensitive to excessive noise and disturbance.

Eels or true eels are an order of fish with many sub-orders, families, genera and species. Electric eels and spiny eels are not the members of true eels despite their similarly shaped bodies. Their dorsal and anal fins are fused with the caudal fins or tail fins. Most of the eels live in shallow waters or hide at the bottom layers of the ocean. They dwell in holes, called as eel pits. Some of the species are active swimmers and live at a depth of more than 500 meters. While feeding, eels drift along the water surface and eat dissolved nutrients.

Devario is a genus of fishes with short barbels and deeper bodies than Danio species. Some of the species also have vertical and horizontal stripes. They range in size from 5-15 cm long. Devarios are native to freshwater rivers and streams of Southeast Asia. Many species of Devarios have beautiful colors and are available as popular aquarium fish all over the world. Some of the species have been recently discovered in remote inland areas of Laos and Myanmar.

Devarios usually do not live for more than two to three years and many species are annuals in the wild. Even in aquariums, Devarios never live for more than five years.

Electric Catfish have the ability to produce electric shock of up to 350 volts. They can generate the electric shock using electro plaques of their electric organ. They can be found in the tropical Africa and along the Nile River. Electric catfish generally use their electric organ to ward off their predators; however, their electric shock is not known to be fatal to human beings.

Electric catfish is usually a nocturnal fish. They feed mainly on other fish by incapacitating their prey with electric discharges. Although electro-receptive system is widely present in the catfishes but electric catfishes a very well-developed electric organ, which is derived from anterior body musculature and it lines the body cavity. Electric catfishes do not have dorsal fins or fin spines. Instead, they have three pairs of barbels. They can grow up to a size of 100 cm long and a weight of 20 kg.

Deepwater Stingray is a species of ray fish that have a significant population on continental slopes from South Africa to Japan and Australia. Minor population of deepwater stingray or giant stingaree across Indo-West and Central Pacific. Deepwater stingray is a heavy-bodied ray that can grow to at least 270 cm (9 feet) length. They have a moderately short and stout tail with a serrated stinging spine behind the pelvic fins. Their snout is moderately elongated and broadly angular. Small eyes are just ahead of the spiracles. Their mouth is straight and broad with small, oval rounded teeth. Dorsal fins are absent in deepwater stingrays. Caudal fin long, moderately large and leaf-shaped. Upperparts are purple brown or purple grey, underparts are white and tail is completely dark. Deepwater stingrays feed on fishes, lobsters, prawns and crabs. They are not very useful to humans though its meat is used at some places.
